Mango & Cinnamon Smoothie
It’s really beginning to feel like summer here in Ireland, & with the end of my college exams right around the corner I am fully embracing everything that comes with the warm weather. One of those glorious things is smoothies.
This smoothie graced my tummy on one of the hottest days of the past few weeks. The sun was shining, there were no clouds in the sky, & it was unusually warm. It was almost too good to be true. How could I pass up such a beautiful day? It had to be honored. A quick search in the fridge & five minutes later I was sitting down with this baby.
Now you’re wondering why there’s cinnamon in the recipe. Simple – why shouldn’t there be cinnamon in the recipe? Thus far in my life I have never experienced a recipe where cinnamon has been a bad idea. Cinnamon is almost always a good idea – zucchini bread, raspberry muffins, banana bread, even bolognese. So I figured what the heck, lets add in some cinnamon, things can only get better.
I was so right. Mango & cinnamon are an amazing combination! You get the tropical sweetness of the mango with the added kick of cinnamon underlying ever single slurp. It’s like a party in your mouth. It was so delicious that I didn’t want to share it with anyone, in fact I kept the whole thing to myself & didn’t tell anyone I made it (sorry Mom!), oops. The recipe can be found below, enjoy!
Makes one large serving or two smallish servings.
- 1 mango, cut up into chunks
- 2 cups of plain yogurt
- ¼ teaspoon of ground cinnamon (plus a sprinkle on top for decoration)
- 1 ½ tablespoons of honey
- 6 ice cubes
- Combine all the ingredients in a blender & blend until smooth.
- Pour into glass/es & serve with a sprinkling of cinnamon on top.
