A Late Autumn Bucket List, 2022
Friends, hello! Happy Thursday! I hope this post finds you well. I’m over here wearing my most coziest fleece, my thickest thermal leggings, and nursing a steaming cup of coffee. All of which can only mean one thing: autumn is well and truly upon us. In truth, autumn has been well and truly upon us for quite some time now, but I’ve had my head buried in the proverbial wedding planning sand. Now that I’ve started to dig myself out a little bit, I’m itching to start truly taking in every moment of this glorious season. Autumn through to the new year is my very favourite time of year, and I don’t want to miss out on a single second. You know what that means: A Late Autumn Bucket List! Sort of like a hybrid autumn-winter bucket list, because it feels slightly too early for a winter one, but too late for a straight up autumn one. Shall we?
My Late Autumn Bucket List is below. I hope it inspires you to start your own seasonal bucket list, or to maybe borrow a few items from mine. Enjoy!
a late autumn bucket list
dress the house
As in: keep it seasonally appropriate. We have our little pumpkin candles dotted around the rooms for the weekend ahead, and we’re set to carve our actual pumpkin later today. It’s a large, gnarly looking dude we named Lyle, and I’m thinking we’ll go more cutesy than traditional with the face this year. Maybe something like this? And naturally, when December 1st rolls around, it’ll be time to decorate for Christmas. Fairy lights, festive tablescapes, decorating the tree while listening to classic carols – the whole shebang. I just love this time of year!
seasonal bakes
I have three cans of pumpkin puree in my cupboard and I’m gearing up to use them all asap rocky, starting with a pumpkin spice bread later this week! There will also be more pumpkin shaped bread in our lives, because seriously, how cute is the loaf above? I’m obsessed! This also covers Christmas baking – I really need to get into it again this year. I totally dropped the ball last year & our house was largely devoid of Christmas bakes – but never again! There shall be Christmas cookie boxes and homemade gifts aplenty!
themed movie weekends
We have a Halloween movie marathon coming up this weekend with all the usual suspects, and I’ll need to ensure the same happens when Christmas rolls around. I like to keep my annual scary/festive movies to the classics, but I’m sure we’ll throw in one or two new additions to each. I’ll report back!
wedding planning
We very recently nailed down our wedding venue and our photographer and it’s starting to actually feel real! My very list orientated self has a to-do list a million miles long, but it covers literally every single thought I’ve ever had about our wedding – and some thoughts that never would’ve occurred to me but the internet says I should consider. As we tiptoe towards the end of the year, I want to make sure at least a few things are ticked off the list every week. Getting things done early and being able to cross them off the list relieves so much of my anxiety!
revel in the engagement stage
With the above paragraph in mind, I think it’s important to keep reminding myself to step back and actually enjoy just being engaged. I’ll admit it: I went a bit crazy with the stress of trying to find the perfect venue and photographer, it’s true. However! Now that they’ve been taken care of, I’m taking my foot off the pedal, stepping back, and trying with all my might to savour this wonderful in-between stage of our lives
pre-wedding-date-iversary
Our wedding date is a little over a year away, and that can only mean one thing: a pre-wedding-date-iversary! I mean, if we already know the date of our wedding, why can’t we start celebrating it a year early? It might sound silly to you, but I love an excuse to celebrate even the smallest little thing. Ideally, we’ll take the day to ourselves, make it special, celebrate how far we’ve come, and hopefully have a romantic dinner date. I can’t wait!
visit a christmas market
Nothing brings me more joy than visiting a Christmas market on the continent, and this year we’re heading to one of my favourite cities: Florence! I have high hopes of finding the ultimate hot chocolate in the city, wearing some nice cozy jumpers, and perusing the main Christmas market outside Santa Croce. Florence in December! I’m! So! Excited! Oof, I’m also hoping we’ll have time to spend a few hours in Pisa before our flight home, so that should be fun!
get my next booster
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I’d really love to get my next Covid-19 booster before December rolls around. Is that too much to ask for? My last booster was in December, and any lingering immunity I might have had from getting Covid in July has well and truly worn off by this stage. Sigh. A girl can dream.
And there we have it: A Late Autumn Bucket List. What do you think, am I missing anything absolutely vital? I’d love to know – hit me up using the comment box below!
I hope you have the very best week, friends.
Happy Halloween! xo
